Our Favorites That Wore the SS Badge

Image
As you know by now, here at Farm Boy Garage we love muscle cars. We restore and build some of the hottest muscle cars in the Midwest . We all have our favorites, but some of the most memorable wore the infamous “SS” emblem in their grille. In this week’s blog, your one-stop restoration shop will list out our favorite SS models of all time. History of the Super Sport Before we get started with our list, we need to give you a little history of the Super Sport. In 1957, Chevrolet built a custom Corvette called the Corvette Super Sport. This was the first time anyone had seen the SS badge. On the 1961 Impala, there was a sport and appearance option called the SS package. It included trim on the interior and exterior, chassis reinforcement, stiffer suspension, power brakes, spinner wheel covers, and whitewall tires. Throughout history, the SS package has been available on many different vehicles, including muscle cars, pickup trucks, four-door sedans, SUVs, and smaller front-wheel...

The History of the Hot Rod

Image
The hot rod is a part of the American car culture. Here at  Farm Boy Garage  hot rods are part of our everyday life, as well as for most car junkies. But, do you know where hot rods got their start or the reason folks started customizing their vehicles? In this week’s blog, we will talk about the history of the hot rod. You may be surprised by how long hot rodding has been around. Hot rodding is a way of life for many, and here at your  one-stop restoration shop  we live that lifestyle out and love sharing the history! The Prohibition During the prohibition era of the 1920s and 30s, the demand for illegal booze was big business. Big city gangsters paid small town moonshine brewers to provide them homemade alcohol. Of course, it didn’t take long for the government to take notice. The government sent out Federal Agents, known as “Revenuers” or “G-Man”. Not only was it hard to make the moonshine without getting caught, but they also had to deliver the product wi...

Choosing the Make and Model for Your Next Project Car

Image
If you've been considering buying a project car , a quick and hasty purchase without proper research is not advisable. Choosing the right make and model is an important part of the selection process, and could ultimately determine the successful completion of your project. To help you make the right choice for your next project car, Farm Boy Garage suggests asking yourself these questions first. What Do You Really Want? We all have that dream car that we fantasize being behind the wheel of one day. What's yours? Why did you choose that particular vehicle? Is what you want realistically attainable? Some dream cars are practical, some are not. Dreams don’t have to be practical, but in the real world, there are sometimes certain limitations that force us to ratchet down our expectations. These restrictions usually manifest themselves in the form of monetary restraints or extreme lack of availability of the item desired. By answering this fundamental question honestly, thi...
