How To Store Your Classic Car During Cold Winter Weather

Check your fluids.

You don't want anything freezing over the winter, so be sure to check all your fluids. This can include, but is not limited to:

  • Radiator Fluid
  • Oil
  • Transmission Fluid
  • A/C Coolant
  • Windshield Washer Fluid
  • Brake Fluid

Consider disconnecting your battery.

Disconnecting the battery can reduce your chances of having any electrical issues while you are storing it in the wintertime. You can try purchasing a battery tinder to keep it fully charged.

Keep your hood propped up.

Doing this can open up your car to the elements and animals will be less likely to invade it. Trying propping it up at least 3 to 4 inches. If animals get in there, they may chew up your wiring if it's stored outside.

Don't forget about your tires!

Whether your tires are bias ply or radial, you shouldn't keep your tires sitting too long. You may consider propping your car or truck up off the ground. Just if you do choose to prop it up, make sure that your car or truck is well secured on the jack stands.

Wash your car.

Take care of your classic car! That's what this all comes down to. If you need help and can't do this on your own, that's where we come in. Make sure your vehicle gets washed and wax. Dirt and grime can start to build up which can eventually lead to your paint getting scratched and that can wreak havoc on the exterior. Again, prevent this problem before it starts.
