When you are attempting a burnout, the goal is to spin your tires at a high speed, drop the clutch, and watch the smoke pillar. Most people just think the burnout is really cool when hanging out with friends, attending a car show and you just want to show off a little bit, or you just want to burn some expensive rubber.

Tip #1: HorsePower

Pick the right car for the perfect burnout. A car with a lot of horsepower will make the burnout process easier to obtain. It is definitely easier to perform a burnout with a manual transmission but it is possible with an automatic.

Tip #2: Tires

You can definitely do a burnout with regular tires, but if you want to excite a crowd with a lot of smoke and rubber all over the road then street tires are what you want on your car. Street tires are smoother than regular tires and will leave way more smoke in the air than a regular tire.

Tip #3: Start in 1st Gear

Place your car in first gear, push the clutch in all the way, and give that baby some gas. As long as you have your clutch in all the way you shouldn’t move until you release it. Rev those RPM’s to ensure your tires are hot so when you release the clutch you should burn a lot of rubber. When you are ready to stop the burnout, take your foot off the accelerator.

Tip #4: Lock Your Emergency Brake

This will allow you to create a lot of smoke when you release the clutch. It will allow your tires to keep spinning at a high speed. When you are ready to take off, release your brake.

Tip #5: Install a Line Locker

A line locker is a device that can be installed into your car to improve burnouts. The line locker is actually just a switch that will give the driver some extra buttons to control the brakes. Just remember, like burnouts a line locker is illegal.
