Haunted Houses You Don't Want to Miss in Des Moines

It’s October already and that can only mean one thing, the Haunted Houses are open for business. Aren’t you ready to scream at the top of your lungs in fear there is something around the corner about to jump out and get you? There are several haunted houses in the Des Moines area that you won’t want to miss. In this week’s blog, we will showcase two haunted attractions that will definitely want to check out before Halloween.

The Slaughterhouse Haunted House

The reviews from The Slaughterhouse are amazing. The Bigg’s family opens its rendering facility for tours every Halloween season, the rest of the year, they process meat. The history behind the haunted house is very interesting there is even a book about it. There is a ride inside the house called the Loading Bay, where you will be seated on a manually operated cart that wheels you into the furnace area, where the fire is hot and ready.

Location: 97 Indiana Ave. Des Moines, IA

Schedule: Last night open this season will be October 26th, 2019
Thursday & Sunday: 7 pm – 10 pm
Friday & Saturday: 7 pm – 12 am

Event Price: $20 regular admission. $30 VIP to skip the line
Tickets can be purchased online until 5 pm each day or you can purchase them at the door.

Sleepy Hollow Haunted Scream Park

The Midwest’s largest and the most elaborate Halloween theme park is celebrating 25 years of fear. Your ticket includes admission to our theme park style village, haunted attractions (number depends on the ticket purchased), and a park full of activities and vendors.
2019 Attractions

TERROR IN THE TREES - NEW FOR 2019!
Take a ride 1000 feet up to the top of Mt. Fear where you’ll find “Terror in the Trees.” Along the way, you’ll encounter dozens of actors and scares in the uniquely themed areas of our REAL forest.

CASTLE OF BLOOD
Start with a tour of a damp, dark torture chamber, then venture deep into the chambers of Merrick Castle, coming face to face with some of the castle’s resident vampires. Who knows? Maybe you will be their type. Blood type, that is.

CHAOS
Sleepy Hollow’s most intense attraction. Dark, loud, and scary. Walkthrough morgues, execution rooms, catacombs, and even a mind-boggling spinning tunnel!

NIGHTMARE ESTATES
This double-wide is most likely NOT home to the neighborhood’s welcoming committee. This crazy hillbilly family wants nothing more than for you to leave their property. If you get the feeling you’ve overstayed your welcome as you travel through their home, you’re probably right. Maybe if you’re nice they’ll show you the way out, but not before telling you how “purdy” you are!

TOXICITY
Grab a gun and head into our giant post-apocalyptic attraction to fight off radioactive mutants and creeps. Don’t let them get too close, or you’ll be the one losing a life. This interactive attraction not only lets you see your score on the way out but lets you activate KILL STREAKS during the game as well. It’s a real-life video game!
*This attraction only available as part of a “Park Pass” or “VIP Pass.”

TWISTED TALES: THE NEXT CHAPTER
The successor of the original Twisted Tales, this haunted attraction is the most elaborate in the park. Have you ever wondered what would happen if the fairy tales you’re used to ending differently? What would have happened if Pinocchio grew tired of being called a “puppet”? What if the pigs hadn’t outsmarted the wolf? Can you find your way through the Queen of Hearts’ elaborate maze?
Other attractions are available as well.

Schedule:
Oct. 11th & 12th, 17th -20th, 24th – 27th, and 31st.
VIP Gate Passes:
Adult (12+) VIP Pass: $45
Child VIP (11 & under): $43

Park Passes:
Adult: $30
Child: $28

Pick 3 Pass: (access to 3 main attractions (not Terror in the Trees):
Adult: $25
Child: $23

As you can see these 2 attractions will scare you to death. Grab your friends and family and enjoy a night tears and fears.
