How often do you plan to drive it, and will you be proudly showing it off at car shows? By asking yourself these questions, you'll more easily be able to determine what's truly important to you when it comes to restoration needs. Factor in Upkeep Costs

Owning a classic car isn't a cheap hobby by any means! If you're going to invest in a classic car, you should do some research on the potential upkeep and maintenance costs. The last thing you want to do is spend the money to have your dream car restored only to not realize just how much maintenance and upkeep it takes and how costly that can be to keep it in like-new condition. Ensure that you get a solid idea of all upkeep and maintenance costs, which include (but are not limited to) rust protection, weatherproofing, and so on.

Don't just buy an old beater that's been sitting uncovered in someone's backyard for the last twenty years because it's cheap. A severely rusted out car won't be worth the trouble.
