Top 5 Classic GM Trucks

At Farm Boy Garage we understand not everyone is a car person. Some people like trucks for the higher ride height and capability. So, today we will cover our top 5 favorite General Motors trucks. These trucks could be driven as you find them or would make great candidates for a complete truck restoration by your one stop shop!

Advance Design Pickup 1947-1954

Chevrolet’s first redesigned truck line after World War 2 – Advanced Design Pickup. These trucks were essentially unchanged over the next few years until 1955. With undeniable good looks, these trucks have a classic style. That grill is unmistaken for any other. These trucks have been restored and customized for many years. Your options here are endless! Chop the top, big blown V8 and fat tires or keep her classy. We like them all here at Farm Boy!

Second Generation C10 1967-1972

Hitting the market in 1960 the second gen offered much more comfort in ride with its drop-ladder center frame and front independent suspension. These trucks are great drivers and have amazing looks. These trucks make a statement with a good color, the right stance, and some modern wheels and tires. The C10 doesn’t seem to be slowing down as it is one of the most popular classic trucks. Prices on these trucks continue to rise. You can’t go wrong here!

K5 Blazer 1969-1972

Designed to compete with the International Scout and Ford Bronco, the Blazer was born a short wheelbase truck with major off-road capabilities. With a removable top, this was a unique truck for sure! You can see the similar body styling to the C10 trucks we just covered. These are easily customized with large wheels and tires. What else could be better than a convertible 4X4? A cool truck for sure!

Third Generation 1973-1987

The list wouldn’t be complete without the “Square Body!” The third generation GM trucks ran the same body for fifteen years. I would say that is a good indication that these trucks were loved by more than just us. With these trucks being more common in four-wheel drive than past generations, we have to go big and tall for our favorite look.

454 SS

A regular cab, short bed, two-wheel drive truck with a big block V8? Uh, yes please! For years folks have customized trucks. In 1990 Chevy released a tire-smoking, sport truck that was ready to tear up the street. The SS truck also sported 3.73 gears, Bilstein shocks, and 32mm front stabilizer bar.  The 454 SS was a mean machine in its day but was only rated at 230 horses. I think with a little work we can do better than that with those 7.4 liters!
