Hit the Road for these Spring Vacation Trips

“I take to the open road, healthy, free, the world before me.”
– Walt Whitman
There's something liberating about jumping in your car and just hitting the road. Whether it's planned or you're just following wherever the roads may lead, it's simply good for the soul to make a road trip. If you're thinking about making a road trip this spring, Farm Boy Garage has a few great suggestions of places you should consider visiting!

Route 66, Illinois to California
If a true road trip is what you're looking for, then a Route 66 road trip is for you! Legendary Route 66 stretches from Chicago to Santa Monica, covering roughly 2,400 miles. While much of the highway has changed over time, historic stretches are filled with mom-and-pop shops, quirky attractions and budget-friendly motels. Points of interest along the historic route include Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas, El Morro National Monument in New Mexico and Wigwam Motel in San Bernardino, California.

New Orleans, LA
New Orleans is a gorgeous city with so much to do for a spring break trip. You can walk the French Quarter, stop in Jackson Square, or visit City Park to enjoy some outdoor activities during the day. After visiting these fascinating sites, grab some incredible, traditional New Orleans food before heading to Bourbon Street or Uptown for a fun night with friends.

Galveston, TX
If you’re looking to travel to Texas but hoping to avoid the craziness of the big cities, then Galveston is a great place to check out. It’s an adorable town by the beach, with the Pleasure Pier amusement park and great shopping, in which to walk around and enjoy your day. There are some great restaurants where you and your friends can enjoy a classic dinner in this cute little beach town. Fun fact for you... Bryan, owner of Farm Boy Garage, used to live there! So if there's any questions you may have about visiting Galveston, he's probably got the answer!

Des Moines, IA
Hills, woodlands and waterways can all be found in Greater Des Moines. Visiting Saylorville Recreation Area, Raccoon River Park, and catching an Iowa Cubs game at Principal Park are just a few of many outdoor adventures to put on your list of things to do. Greater Des Moines has a lot to offer history-minded road trippers. One of the best ways to experience it is at Living History Farms in Urbandale. Another wonderful way to learn more about Central Iowa’s history is with a visit to Terrace Hill, the official residence of the Governor of Iowa. Plus, while you're here, you DEFINITELY have to stop by and check out Farm Boy Garage!
