The Greatest Corvettes Ever Built!

At Farm Boy Garage, we love all things GM, especially Corvettes! So when we heard about the 2019 Corvette ZR1, you know that got our hearts racing! It also got us thinking back on previous Corvettes that have stood the test of time and made a huge impact in the world of muscle cars. So, this week, we're rolling out our list of some of the greatest Corvettes ever built! Check it out:

1967 Corvette Sting Ray L88
Winner of the 1967 NHRA A/Sports Nationals at Indianapolis, the 1967 Corvette Sting Ray L88 represented the final evolution of the original vision of the Corvette: small and luxurious, but lethal on the tracks. The drivetrain is where this car really starts to become its own hero versus the smaller-engined versions that are far more common. One of only 20 road-going versions produced, this 427-cubic-inch, big block V8 was quoted at the time as producing 430 horsepower. Through the M22 "rock crusher" transmission, many unofficial tallies put the horsepower count at closer to 560.

1969 Corvette ZL1
The '69 ZL1 was arguably the most exotic Corvette of its time. Sporting a sleeker, even more aggressive design, the C3 spawned new engines and upgrade packages. The ZL1 was offered for the 1969 model year only and added an all-aluminum, 7.0-liter big-block which was developed primarily for racing. The engine was officially rated at 430 horsepower, but testing revealed that output was actually at around 460 horsepower. While it wasn't one of the more popular models, the ZL1 was the fastest production car ever made back in 1969.

2006 C6 Corvette Z06
The C6 Z06 has a furious beast of an engine sitting behind its face: A massive stock 505 horsepower 7.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 with a 7,000-RPM redline that GM has ever built. Top speed was a claimed 198 mph, but it could definitely crack 200 mph if you gave it enough room. But that's not all... The Z06 featured stiffer anti-roll bars, stiffer springs, a larger rear spoiler and front splitter, transmission cooler, carbon fiber front and fiberglass rear fenders, front and rear brake ducts, lighter wheels, and bigger brakes.

2019 Corvette ZR1
ZR1 has returned to the throne to push the Corvette legacy to its highest point ever. It’s a supercar that’s at once luxurious and overwhelmingly capable, delivering the icon’s fastest, most powerful, most advanced performance in a production Corvette to date. From the commanding stance to the muscular lines to the extensive use of carbon fiber, ZR1 was designed with one purpose in mind: performance. The ZR1 delivers 60 percent more downforce than the Z06 with the available Z07 Performance Package. All told, the ZR1 is not only the meanest Corvette ever built, but also the most aggressive vehicle wearing a Chevrolet badge.
